V-TAC Custom Leather Tactical Tomahawk Sheath
Tony called us up one day and asked us to make a pair of axe sheaths for his "tactical" axes. I had never heard of a "tactical" axe before, so I couldn't wait to see them.
Tony had pair of American Tomahawk V-TACs. He wanted a functional and comfortable leather holster thang hung from a belt - slightly recessed - for easy and quick access. As soon as Tony showed me these Tactical Tomahawks, we said, “Heck Yeah! Let's do this!" What a cool tool this thing is. We took Tony’s ideas for the design and brought them to life – TWICE! Check it out! |

For these sheaths, we wanted something a bit more firm and "stiff" that would provide durability, stability, and last a long time. Because of that, we chose an Oak Leaf leather from Tandy Leather for this project. We created a paper pattern, then traced it onto our leather. Next, we hand-cut our Oak Leaf leather and dyed it with Fiebings Pro Oil Dye in black. |

To give this V-Tac custom leather tomahawk sheath the proper "ride height" for Tony, we created a belt loop on the back side. For added durability, we used reinforced stitching patterns for a strong belt loop hold. | |
On the Front side, we created a two-pocket, open-centered system for a quick release. This way, when fastened, the axe can rest, securely in place - even when running. When you pull the cover and pop the black-chrome line 24 snaps, it's a quick reach down for the blade handle and out she comes! Re-sheathing is also super easy. |

We finished these sheaths off with black chrome snaps and gave it just a "hint" of a wet-mold to keep those sharp axes held in place with confidence. Black leather, black #277 Bonded Nylon stitching, and black chrome snaps rounds out this cool-looking pair of functional custom leather holsters for the American Tomahawk V-TAC. Thank you for this cool project, Tony! |
